@CocaCola Fortunately someone put it on Github `for the purpose of archival and preservation' (with source code): https://github.com/amindlost/dos32a The needed file is: https://github.com/amindlost/dos32a/blob/main/binw/dos32a.exe

@andmars I got this error too, but file still availible on WebArchive. You can download it mannualy, put dos32a-912-bin.zip to dirrectory with PKGBUILD and replaice http://download.narechk.net/dos32a-912-bin.zip to dos32a-912-bin.zip in PKGBUILD, then it works!

Hey all, I'm on Manjaro x86_64 i3wm with kernel 4.20.17-1-MANJARO and had an issue where my mouse wouldn't work inside of Daggerfall, here's how I fixed that:

1) Add the line autolock=false under [sdl] in the config file located at /usr/share/games/daggerfall/dagger.conf

2) Change autolock=true to autolock=false in the config file located at /home/username/.dosbox/dosbox-0.74-2.conf

Now #2 didn't originally work for me, and I had to figure out that I had to add #1 to get the mouse to work inside of Dosbox (CTRL+F10 as people suggested online hadn't worked for me).

I hope this helps anybody else trying to get this to work!

Hi Giniu,

I'd like to thank you very much for this great work and package! I'm currently playing Daggerfall with it (with just dosbox I couldn't make it on my own -- wiki says I should recompile the kernel, so this package is much welcome).

But here's an issue :

$ daggerfall --archive-all-saves
Archived save from slot 0
Archived save from slot 1
Archived save from slot 2
Archived save from slot 3
Archived save from slot 4
Archived save from slot 5
$ daggerfall --list-archived-saves
Archived saves from slot 0

Not an ARRAY reference at /usr/bin/daggerfall line 1727.
$

[And some time later...]

$ daggerfall --archive-all-saves
Archived save from slot 0
Archived save from slot 1
Archived save from slot 2
Archived save from slot 3
Archived save from slot 4
Archived save from slot 5
$ daggerfall --list-archived-saves
Archived saves from slot 0

Not an ARRAY reference at /usr/bin/daggerfall line 1727.
$ ls /usr/share/games/daggerfall/save-backups/
0-sauve-2018_07_16_22_14_00.tar.xz        2-tmp-2018_07_16_22_14_00.tar.xz         4-queteencours-2018_07_16_22_14_00.tar.xz
0-sauve-2018_07_17_11_11_51.tar.xz        2-tmp-2018_07_17_11_11_51.tar.xz     4-queteencours-2018_07_17_11_11_51.tar.xz
1-enquete-2018_07_16_22_14_00.tar.xz      3-sauve2-2018_07_16_22_14_00.tar.xz  5-backup-2018_07_16_22_14_01.tar.xz
1-sauvebornes-2018_07_17_11_11_51.tar.xz  3-tmp-2018_07_17_11_11_51.tar.xz     5-backup-2018_07_17_11_11_51.tar.xz
$

The line is:

            foreach my $name (sort keys @{$saves{$slot}}) {

and I suppose the array is:

    my %saves = get_archived_saves;

but I'm sorry, I don't know perl enough to be any help here.

Maybe it's ok to necrobump your original thread? https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=121808

New version should build and work without issues. Be sure to backup your saves before updating. I've tried to fix some perl script issues due to new versions and hope it will work. Full rewrite of launcher into python is still planned, but horribly delayed.

Info about games group is also displayed by install file when you install the package. Anyway, most games do not require to have games group, because they store all user data/profiles in /home. When I have time I might experiment with similar things using unionfs-fuse (especially that it would simplify mod switching), but I rather not set the permissions to everyone for this.

@giniu Yeah I did, I didn't have write permission to ARENA2 and this meant as levels were loading, I had to chmod them. I read in the comment about having to be in the games group, I've since added myself to that and don't seem to have any more permissions errors. But it does seem archaic to me to have to add users to a 'games' group now and regardless of whether it actually works or not, I think we should be discouraging that. I'm not aware of very many distributions or specific packages that steel require being in the games group to play games.
