@tb0n3 I pushed a small fix to link handling, please try again.

@tb0n3 clicking a button in a browser is normal, link in
PKGBUILD
is configured to skip all of that. What shell do you use? Shouldn't matter, but there might be something that influences variable expansion in your environment.tb0n3 commented on 2024-05-19 17:51 (UTC)
@Bitals When I attempted the install on a computer at home the gamedata link just downloaded a warning page instead of the file. When navigated to in a browser I had to click a button to download. I'm not sure if it was just a temporary thing or what.

@tb0n3 last time I checked 1.1.1 was still in testing, thank you for a ping. Not sure what you mean by "link is filtered with malware protection", please clarify. I just built 1.1.1 in a CI environment.
UPD: I also just built it on a fresh Arch VM with paru.
Thinking about this I also got an idea to split this package into the game itself (engine) and Daggerfall data, as the latter updates a lot less frequently (sorta like a Bible update at this point lol). Might come with the next release.

The game data url no longer works with makepkg/yay and the latest version is 1.1.1, if anybody is maintaining this package.
The link still "works" but is filtered with malware protection.

I recently updated the PKGBUILD to work again, it is currently hosted at https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/daggerfall-unity-bin
This was done in order to bring the package naming in line with the Arch guidelines. I have filed a merge request for the packages, but the process requires manual approval of the AUR trusted users team, so it is not instantaneous. In order to avoid waiting you can manually switch to daggerfall-unity-bin.

@Bitals
I don't know how to do this, so let someone else do it.

@Mr.Smith1974
GDrive does not give you a direct link to a file, they generate a unique one for each session. So if you used your browser to get to download and ran wget on it the next second, it might work for you for a bit, but it won't for another person on another day. All they would get is a page with a button that generates the link with JS, which wget won't interact with in any way, just save.

@DebianLinuxero
I checked everything. Everything downloads fine.

I can't build the package (Manjaro).
makepkg doesn't really download the game data files from Google Drive. Instead, it creates a tiny text file called data.zip which contents HTML code.
Please, check the wget part of the PKGBUILD file.
