@LinaM what amdgpu are you using? And are you satisfied with the performance? Is it worth to give it another try?

I tried to install on 5.10.42-1-MANJARO and it failed. I installed the evdi-git and it didn't work either. Also, my wifi was not working anymore, even after rebooting and uninstalling everything. In case anyone else has the same issue: I solved it rebooting on a USB live image

Installation on Manjaro (Kernel 5.12) - with 1.9.1-1 (not evdi-git!) - without any problems. Thx für the good job :-)

But since the last Manjaro updates my system was slow...

After I installed Tuxedo Control Center, everything - despite amdgpu - runs smoothly, fast and fluid (2 external monitors, lid closed, dark but not off! Use of force-modesetting and bash-Script at start) Maybe it helps someone with a similar constellation...

Hello, since the last displaylink driver update my ASUS monitor on manjaro linux has been very laggy and is very hard to use. I am wondering if there is a way to downgrade the displaylink package to an older version (I did not install it with pacman so I can't downgrade it with that) or this can be just an FYI that the driver is not working right.

Done

FYI, I updated evdi to the 1.9.1 release in case you want to re-add as a possible dep.

Was having a lot of issues with multiple monitor setup and i3 on previous version with standard evdi.

This version along with evdi-git (1.9.1.r4) are working flawlessly with 5.11.13.

You can try to open a new issue at https://github.com/DisplayLink/evdi (Please don't post off-topic information on existing issues) or make a post in https://www.displaylink.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=29.

There is already a post on AMD performance: https://github.com/DisplayLink/evdi/issues/271#issuecomment-815613412

I recommend to not put your hopes too high. DisplayLink performance on Linux has always been very problematic. I doubt that Synaptics now owning DisplayLink has increased priorities on Linux.

Wow! I also experienced a dramatic drop in performance after the last update like @LinaM mentioned

Where can we submit issues to the developer? Is the github repo of evdi the correct place?

My system info is here, https://gist.github.com/MavropaliasG/3e8b84b39d324cb7a5b8f155ed3ac7d8

It appears that my last full system upgrade broke displaylink. xrandr --listproviders only gives the default provider with the name Intel, no longer any modesetting provider. How do I get the modesetting provider back?

I'm running linux-lts(5.10.29-1) with linux-lts-headers(5.10.29-1) installed. evdi seems to be properly loaded:

amicopo@Laptop:~$ lsmod | grep evdi
evdi 73728 0
drm_kms_helper 278528 2 evdi,i915
syscopyarea 16384 2 drm_kms_helper,evdi
sysfillrect 16384 2 drm_kms_helper,evdi
sysimgblt 16384 2 drm_kms_helper,evdi
drm 569344 8 drm_kms_helper,evdi,i915

The displaylink service is active but the monitors DVI-I-I-1 and DVI-I-I-2 do not show up in the output of xrandr (and arandr)

amicopo@Laptop:~$ systemctl status displaylink
● displaylink.service - DisplayLink Manager Service
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/displaylink.service; disabled; vendor preset: disabled)
Active: active (running) since Tue 2021-04-13 14:49:49 CEST; 11min ago
    Process: 2867 ExecStartPre=/sbin/modprobe evdi (code=exited, status=0/SUCCESS)
   Main PID: 2869 (DisplayLinkMana)
      Tasks: 14 (limit: 18876)
     Memory: 7.2M
        CPU: 18.546s
     CGroup: /system.slice/displaylink.service
             └─2869 /usr/lib/displaylink/DisplayLinkManager

I've been trying to resolve the issue but don't know where to look next. Hope someone here know's how to resolve this. Let me know if anyone needs more debug info I missed!
