I've reopened #12 as an issue for tracking this.
I'm investigating being able to build as a system app wrt https://wiki.gnome.org/Projects/Gjs/Package with extension separated or as a local extension.
Probably "system" packages shouldn't be installed to a user dir, although I don't know much about arch.
I've updated the PKGBUILD so it installs in the local directory as suggested by the author. It seems to work for me: https://pastebin.com/tBYYnEcj
It doesn't work using the PKGBUILD. I got this same issue: https://github.com/andyholmes/gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect/issues/12
Well, at least for me it doesn't...
Does this actually work? I didn't really account for the extension being installed to a system directory and some paths are even hardcoded. If it works that's great, but if not you should open an issue on GitHub so I can try and work through the problems.

Thank you for making this! One small quibble: could you change the description and URL parts of your packagebuild? They still point to the appindicator-extension that you started with as the basis for adapting the file. Thank you!

To whom it may concern: please do not flag the package out-of-date because it's not working with the latest GNOME release. If the extension is not working, it doesn't mean it's out-of-date. The [latest version released[(https://github.com/GSConnect/gnome-shell-extension-gsconnect/releases/latest) is sometimes lagging behind so this PKGBUILD is strictly up-to-date even if the result is not working. As of GNOME 45, all of the extensions have been broken, please allow the developers time to update their project you like to use in your environment.
