Thanks, unfortunate timing then.

For reference, with Gnome shell / wayland I need to

unset QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME
unset QT_QPA_PLATFORM

to avoid

Google Earth has caught signal 6.

No, nowhere is the right place. First of all, you mean repackaging? I personally am very content not having some Launchpad-like separate repo system in here for every single package that doesn't use build(). You're even suggesting that one of the 1881 voters (why are they more capable than anybody else, by the way?) should start maintaining their _own_ repo, tell about it in wherever and then have this package removed. And what then when the maintainer gets bored and decides, "Who gives a shit?" I'm assuming we'll create a second user repo and again inform the world just how magnificent the idea is. And you not only want this mess to be done for this package but for everybody else that use binaries? Did you actually think this through before you said it? And the thing about Google creating its own repo for Arch Linux, I don't know where did you get this idea from, but it will probably not happen in the next 50 years. It just doesn't work.

I don't know if that's the right place but google earth is the google related packages with the most votes. I think these packages shouldn't be in the aur because the aur and the PKGBUILDs are wrappers for building packages - and not download them and do some sort of reverse-engineering. Google or one of the 1881 should install it's own binary repository with pre-build packages, I think. If there is a binary repository the aur is not needed. This stuff shouldn't be in 'community' since it's nonfree. lks

The "-i" flag installs the package for makepkg and "-U" for pacman. That's pretty basic stuff: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman#Additional_commands, https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Makepkg#Usage The result is a simple uncompressed .pkg.tar (PKGEXT='.pkg.tar') because it's just so damn faster to build. E: And this release crashes a lot for me too, so you might wanna either stick to the previous 7.1 or even 6.2: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/google-earth6/

Hi there, I also use 64bit arch and for the first time I ran googleearth it was all fine. Now for every time I started it it crashes: [0726/120418:ERROR:net_util.cc(2195)] Not implemented reached in bool net::HaveOnlyLoopbackAddresses() [0726/120418:ERROR:nss_ocsp.cc(581)] No URLRequestContext for OCSP handler. [0726/120420:ERROR:nss_ocsp.cc(581)] No URLRequestContext for OCSP handler. Another crash happened while handling crash! Also after makepkg -s there is no .xz file. How do I install google-earth with pcman. Now I have to run it manually: /home/frojnd/aur/google-earth/google-earth/pkg/google-earth/opt/google/earth/free/googleearth

Oh, I see. It is because yaourt was trying to install the binary ld-lsb package from archlinuxfr, which is only for x86_64. I just had to install it from the aur separately, and that fixes the problem.

Alister.Hood commented on 2013-07-19 02:58 (UTC)

Is that anything to do with this?: # google-earth /usr/bin/google-earth: line 17: ./googleearth-bin: No such file or directory

On i686 a dependency on ls-lsb doesn't work: warning: cannot resolve "lib32-glibc", a dependency of "ld-lsb" :: The following package cannot be upgraded due to unresolvable dependencies: ld-lsb
