Hi, is it possible to add a .desktop file. So that we can start gtkterm from the Desktop-Launcher?

leosw commented on 2015-07-16 08:09

Sorry you're right, this comment is for the aur2 package.

benjarobin commented on 2015-07-16 08:07

vte290 is not needed (not installed on my PC and gtkterm is working fine). vte290 is for GTK3, this package does not use GTK3 but GTK2 !

leosw commented on 2015-07-16 08:00

It was error on my perl install making automake not working. Fixed now.

looks like vte290 is needed

benjarobin commented on 2015-07-11 17:33

If you still have this error message (ERROR: Unable to locate GNU Automake.), you just do not have automake installed !

leosw commented on 2015-07-08 14:52

I reinstalled all base-devel in case but the issue still be present

benjarobin commented on 2015-07-02 08:10

Did you install base-devel which contains Automake ? base-devel is mandatory to use AUR !

Fails to build :

==> Starting configure...
Preparing the gtkterm build system...please wait

Found GNU Autoconf version 2.69

ERROR: Unable to locate GNU Automake.

ERROR: To prepare the gtkterm build system from scratch,
at least version 1.6.0 of GNU Automake must be installed. does not need to be run on the same machine that will
run configure or make. Either the GNU Autotools will need to be installed
or upgraded on this system, or must be run on the source
code on another system and then transferred to here. -- Cheers!

I've tried to reinstall autoconf but that doesn't fix my issue.

andreyv commented on 2013-09-05 07:44

Thanks, it builds now.

andreyv commented on 2013-09-04 15:39

This time the build fails with:

patching file src/serie.c
patching file src/serie.h
Hunk #1 FAILED at 33.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to file src/serie.h.rej

benjarobin commented on 2013-07-14 17:35

I just updated the PKGBUILD following new guidelines

benjarobin commented on 2013-06-27 19:23

The problem is inside gnome-autogen, watch this bug report

andreyv commented on 2013-06-27 07:06

The build is failing with

***Error***: You must have automake >= 1.9 installed to build GtkTerm.

now, after core/automake was upgraded to 1.14-1.

andreyv commented on 2012-09-13 07:11

Thanks, it works now.

Anonymous comment on 2012-09-12 12:38

Excellent work, thanks! :-)

benjarobin commented on 2012-09-12 12:24

Fixed :-) Run "systemd-tmpfiles --create" or reboot to create the associated temporary file

benjarobin commented on 2012-09-12 10:27

I going to patch it, wait for it :-)

benjarobin commented on 2012-09-12 10:09

What do you mean by starting gtkterm with systemd ?

benjarobin commented on 2012-09-12 10:03

I will work on it after work, so in 7 hours. I hope I can find a solution

Anonymous comment on 2012-09-12 09:47

I've quickly packaged the old but good gtkterm 0.99.6 that doesn't have this issue. I don't want to run it as root, it's very uncomfortable to me ...

andreyv commented on 2012-09-12 08:07

@lto: I have the same problem, running gtkterm as root works.

Anonymous comment on 2012-09-12 08:00

Has anyone been able to successfully run gtkterm with systemd? The program always fails with "cannot open create lockfile" ... I cannot find a solution ...

RavuAlHemio commented on 2012-08-17 14:38

The patch to has hit upstream and isn't necessary anymore.

benjarobin commented on 2012-06-09 13:37

Well I cannot compile with just `./configure && make`
There is a problem in the build of translation (po), the changed made are kind of ugly: Just do not stop on warning during automake...
I should had report this problem upstream a long time ago...

mecanix commented on 2012-06-09 12:04

On x86_64, the package don't compile with `yaourt -S gtkterm-git`:
Running aclocal-1.12...
Running autoconf...
Running autoheader...
Running automake-1.12...
automake-1.12: warnings are treated as errors warning: The 'AM_PROG_MKDIR_P' macro is deprecated, and will soon be removed. You should use the Autoconf-provided 'AC_PROG_MKDIR_P' macro instead, and use '$(MKDIR_P)' instead of '$(mkdir_p)'in your files. installing './config.guess' installing './config.sub'

But if I clone the git repository, and run `./configure && make`, I can compile the program.
Could you fix this issue please?
Thanks in advance.

andreyv commented on 2012-04-26 15:11

Needs gtk3 and vte3 now.

benjarobin commented on 2011-10-08 09:20

If somebody see this message : "fatal: destination path 'gtkterm' already exists and is not an empty directory", this is normal. I have made some change into the PKGBUILD which are not "compatible" with the previous version. If you see this message you must delete the src directory, and after that you should never see this message again

l0gic commented on 2011-10-06 10:15

Since the current PKGBUILD applies the patch to ${_gitname} it fails if you keep the src.
I made a patch to use ${_gitname}-build for building, so ${_gitname} doesn't get tainted.

Anonymous comment on 2011-09-29 19:35

ah fixed it by deleting the tmp directory in yaourt

benjarobin commented on 2011-09-28 09:33

You should retry or you should have an error before "GIT checkout done or server timeout.". Are you connected to Internet ?

Anonymous comment on 2011-09-28 09:07

im getting:

==> GIT checkout done or server timeout.
/var/abs/local/yaourtbuild/gtkterm-git/./PKGBUILD: line 34: cd: gtkterm: No such file or directory

benjarobin commented on 2011-09-21 22:33

I have patch the to be able to compile, but gtkterm is not fully translated... gtkterm don't pick up the translation (It's better than nothing)

alex.forencich commented on 2011-09-07 21:26

Doesn't work presently. I'm getting the following error:

Making all in po
make[2]: Entering directory `/tmp/yaourt-tmp-alex/aur-gtkterm-git/src/gtkterm/po'
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `all'. Stop.

The folder po has a very oddly named but no Makefile.

sq5nbg commented on 2011-04-17 16:31

Should have makedepends=('git') in PKGBUILD

benjarobin commented on 2011-02-24 13:23

gettext is into the base group. You should have it when you install ArchLinux :

benjarobin commented on 2011-02-24 13:14

I will look about this today

nickoe commented on 2011-02-24 10:38

configure: error: GNU gettext tools not found; required for intltool

You should probaly have gettext as a builddependency. I could not complie without.
