Indeed. Thanks for the hint :)

gnome-doc-utils appears to be a dependency.

configure: error: gnome-doc-utils >= 0.3.2 not found
==> ERROR: A failure occurred in build().

Please rebuild this package after changing from heimdal to mit-krb.

Thanks for your PKGBUILD. I will use it here as soon as gtk3 is not only in [testing].

Should heimdal be a dependency?

Good work.
printinfo() is the best solution.

If you want to make your package much better. This link could help you.

Creating KDE_package_guidelines is added into my todo list.

Thanks for your tip, cathay4t.
I added a install file which rebuilds the caches for gtk and touches the icon dir. This should be sufficient to let KDE rebuild its cache, too.
For the case that this is not sufficient I added a short info text. I don't really want to remove cache files on other peoples machines without knowing if this is really required...

KDE user might got icon missing issue like this bug:

I have checked their src.rpm and found the folowing solution.

#Add this line into PKGBUILD

#add this line into krb5-auth-dialog.install
#For KDE user:
rm /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER/kpc/kde-icon-cache.* >&/dev/nll
#For gtk user:
touch --no-create /usr/share/icons/hicolor >&/dec/null
gtk-update-icon-cache /usr/share/icons/hicolor >&/dev/null

post_upgrade() {
post_install $1

$op $*

I did a small mistake in my patch which caused libnotify to show the wrong symbol (old status instead of new). Now fixed in PKGREL 4.

Bevan commented on 2011-03-17 10:55

The original sources do not work with new version of libnotify (0.7).
I added a small patch to solve this issue.

Bevan commented on 2011-03-17 10:32

This program does not work with new version of libnotify. Also recompiling does not work.
I'm working on a simple patch to solve this issue.

Default option is that krb5-auth-dialog only starts if a kerberos ticket is already present:

-a, --auto Only run if an initialized ccache is found (default)
-A, --always Always run

So you have to start it via
krb5-auth-dialog -A

Hope it helps :-)

When I try to start krb5-auth-dialog before kinit, I got this from strace:
open("/tmp/krb5cc_500", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE|O_CLOEXEC) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)
munmap(0xb7855000, 16384) = 0
exit_group(0) = ?

krb5-auth-dialog just exit 0.

My friend using fedora krb5-auth-dialog 0.16 in Gnome don't have this issue.
I have confirmed even with 0.16 in arch, the problem is the same.

Does this tool hate KDE?

Added. Thanks for the hint.

Please add "gnome-doc-utils" into depend field.

Bevan commented on 2010-09-17 22:31

New version 0.17 includes a plugin to obtain an AFS token. You can enable it by running
gconftool-2 --set --list-type=string --type=list /apps/krb5-auth-dialog/plugins/enabled [afs]

Simply rebuild this package to work with heimdal-1.3.2.
