!!! IMPORTANT NOTICE !!!

I will be deprecating this package upon the release of Linux 6.14rc1, as the only remaining patch for this series of laptops has been merged into Linux and is slated for release in 6.14rc1!

NPU has now been tested & works! https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ASUS_Zenbook_UM5606#NPU

@VanKurt you might also need to do install/enable these services: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/ASUS_Zenbook_UM5606#Power_management

P.S. it's normal/expected behavior for linux-firmware-git to include amd-ucode-git :)

A reminder to please take discussions about these patches on other distros to an appropriate channel :)

Yesterday I got my Asus um5606 laptop and naivly installed Arch. At first everything looked fine, but a few seconds after logging into Gnome, the laptop froze completly.

I then installed this package (linux-mainline-um5606) and also linux-firmware-amd-staging-um5606-git. But the laptop keeps freezing, now even faster.

What is the current (Dec 2024) status here? Should this be working? Should I try early versions of the 6.13 kernel?

I've confirmed the stereo patch has already been merged into v6.13-rc1 and is working as expected. These are the changes I had to apply locally for a clean build (there's a "v" missing in the value assigned to the _tag variable after the last commit): http://0x0.st/X7-t.diff

I've also noticed the screen brightness controls stopped working after booting the new kernel...

No worries. BTW, it looks like the stereo patch has already been merged into v6.13-rc1: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/diff/sound/pci/hda/patch_realtek.c?id=v6.13-rc1&id2=v6.12

@emfol apologies, fixed

The build is broken... I had to apply this patch to make it work: http://0x0.st/X7ix.diff

@fallingcats added, thank you!

Could you include the patch for audio mentioned here? https://github.com/alsa-project/alsa-ucm-conf/issues/467#issuecomment-2505886391

This seems to be necessary since the pipewire workaround no longer works with current alsa, and it's the better solution anyway.

@Nathoufresh this package has nothing to do with KDE Plasma, please move your questions to an appropriate channel.

Dooes anyone else experience sluggish animations on KDE? I tried enabling/disabling kwin triple buffering, but I noticed no difference. On fresh boot, the animations are smooth for 1 or 2 minutes, then it starts to lag.

EDIT: I fixed it by disabling PSR (amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x600) and setting the refresh rate to 120Hz and adaptive sync to automatic in the settings.

So after running with an uptime over a week with rc6, rc7 locked up within a few hours :(
