Sorry about the lack of updates, I've been enormously busy lately. I will try really really hard to get the patches updated to 4.11.x this weekend, but will get them done by the end of next week for sure.

sheenik: Are you using an Intel integrated video for your host? If not, then the arbitration patch does nothing for you. I can also say that this package does work as expected on my system, but I do not use an Intel video device.

Arbitration patch (I suppose) seems not to work on 4.10-11 kernel.
VM starts, but passed through GPU never turns on, and VM will remain stuck in this state.
Reverting to a 4.8 vfio kernel resolves the issue.

Spartus: You shouldn't need this package if you're using an AMD chip. That is one of the few advantages of them (I kid I kid). ;-)
On a side note, it takes me over an hour on my i7-4790K and I usually set it to compile when I go to bed.
I also do provide this package on my repository, in the case you do actually need this package and you don't want to take the time to compile it (scroll down in the comments feed for more info).

Thanks markzz. While I do appreciate that compile time is directly a function of computer speed, of course, it seems especially long for a brand new Ryzen 7 (although I fear baiting a conversation of AMD vs. Intel). Regardless, does 4+ hours seem reasonable based on other's experience?

Spartus: On a slow computer, this will take a while to compile.
Spartus commented on 2017-03-15 15:50 (UTC) (edited on 2017-03-15 17:16 (UTC) by Spartus)
Um,I just got a new system with IOMMU and wanted to install this... it has been compiling for 4 hours now. Is this normal? Certainly not what I expected.
Update: ended in failure...

I have built kernel 4.10.1 with some updated patches and if you would like to test them out (and please do), you can find both binary and source packages here [1]. I especially would like people who rely on the i915 arbitration patch to test it since I don't use that part.
As always, test at your own risk.

jpbd: *grumble*
Usually minor releases of Linux do this, still is annoying though to rewrite the patches. I also do pay attention to linux in [core] before upgrading this package.

This package exists for the specific purpose of adding ported patches based on those originally created by Alex Williamson for:
Bypassing the default IOMMU grouping by overriding PCIe ACS support, and
Enabling VGA arbitration support on Intel iGPUs.
Arbitrary patches will not be added.
Refer to the wiki on PCI passthrough and this blog post on IOMMU groups for risks/caveats before using this package.
Regular AUR etiquette applies as well (knowledge of
makepkg
and searching the wiki/Arch forums is expected, and AUR helpers or Arch-based distros that are not Arch Linux are unsupported).
