Please add ARM to array "arch"

purpleleaf commented on 2021-11-12 21:59 (UTC)

It does not start without dbus.

The lumina-desktop home page reports: "Written in C++/Qt5 and is not based on any existing desktop’s code-base, and does not use any of the Linux-based desktop frameworks (ConsoleKit, PolicyKit, D-Bus, systemd, etc..)"

If somebody wants almost brand new 1.6.0 version - there's: https://github.com/polaur/aur-rebased/tree/master/lumina-desktop

cyrevolt commented on 2018-11-07 14:12 (UTC)

I'd assume that it's an issue with the current version of the Qt libs. I'll see if I can get it to run. I hope v2 is going to be released soon. You could try out the -git release for now.

I've just installed this package but when I try to go into lumina desktop I'm getting a segfault :-(

[ 2117.078181] lumina-desktop[18965]: segfault at 3000a0029 ip 00007f2984a07285 sp 00007fffc976dd70 error 4 in libQt5Widgets.so.5.11.2[7f2984955000+391000

Anyone have any ideas? I'd love to give lumina a whirl

At least there is a newer PKGBUILD. I'm glad I helped a little here :)

1) Please add qt5-svg in depends... At least makedepends one... Or... Bang :(

2) You made a little mistake in my nick : it is FredBezies. Besides of this, no problems :D

pavbaranov commented on 2017-12-06 23:10 (UTC)

@cyrevolt - First it's not neccessary :) Second: I know, that qt5-svg is shown as not needed, but it is. Not needed is lumina.install because all of this job is realised by pacman hooks. Third: I think, that maybe we should add info that using KDE/Qt apps needs another icons like breeze because both icons included in lumina lacks icons required by those apps.

cyrevolt commented on 2017-12-06 22:40 (UTC)

I have just adopted the package, updated the PKGBUILD and added all of you here as contributors. Would you like to be added as a co-maintainer @pavbaranov?

namcap says we don't need qt5-svg: lumina-desktop W: Dependency included and not needed ('qt5-svg')

pavbaranov commented on 2017-12-06 21:17 (UTC)

@colinkeenan - About "install=" - see: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pacman#Hooks and https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/DeveloperWiki:Pacman_Hooks Yes, problably in my PKGBUILD is missing qt5-svg. As you can see, there is a new version of 1.4.0 with PKGBUILD by FredBezeies I don't think that it's good idea to duplicate DE only because one is only in English and other with translates.

FredBezies commented on 2017-11-30 13:04 (UTC)

Better PKGBUILD working with 1.4.0-p1 : https://pastebin.com/tESHXv5n Added qt5-svg as a depend.

colinkeenan commented on 2017-11-29 23:18 (UTC) (edited on 2017-11-29 23:25 (UTC) by colinkeenan)

@pavbaronov, Why did you remove install="${pkgname%-*}.install" from the PKGBUILD for your version? All it does is run update-desktop-database -q after installation/upgrade/removal. Also, if you can't take this one over, maybe you should start another aur package named "lumina-with-translations" or "lumina-localized" or something. Also, although it's building fine with makepkg, it doesn't build in a clean chroot. There's something missing from this PKGBUILD.

pavbaranov commented on 2017-11-24 17:48 (UTC) (edited on 2017-11-24 21:55 (UTC) by pavbaranov)

@cyrevolt - yes, of course it's more better. But with my friend from Polish Arch Community - marcin82, we prepared proper version od PKGBUILD. Anyone can find it there: https://pastebin.com/BTdHgfZm More: http://linux-pavbaranov.blogspot.com/2017/11/lumina-desktop-environment-140.html

cyrevolt commented on 2017-11-23 22:05 (UTC)

I just built and installed 1.4.0, too. I would suggest, in addition to the PKGBUILD provided by pavbaranov, to simply move the manpages just like the /etc diretory: mv "${pkgdir}"/usr/man "${pkgdir}"/usr/share/man

pavbaranov commented on 2017-11-23 19:31 (UTC)

Ok, I'm not very satified with this PKGBUILD but: 1. it builds current version of Lumina DE, 2. it builds it with translations file, Everybody should remember that fluxbox is needed as WM for Lumina DE. It's only as optdepends and should be installed for using Lumina. PKGBUILD: https://pastebin.com/TbE4U4HF

FredBezies commented on 2017-11-22 18:04 (UTC)

Even worse, 1.4.0 was released on November 22nd, 2017. https://github.com/trueos/lumina/releases/tag/v1.4.0

noraj commented on 2017-11-12 16:57 (UTC)

1.3.0 and 1.3.0-1 are out too. 1.2.0-p1 since january and 1.3.0-x since june. crossroads1112 seems not maintaining the package anymore.

1.2.0-p1 is out now, it works better for me (lots of applications were crashing for me in 1.1.0-p1, e.g. terminator). However, I cannot move windows anymore. :D sha512sum: 8490e2b0f2fa08b2d63ec688f9993771ea935129a2947ef7bfa1874424cbede6d8877083ce90658c283858e67397383b5bab536388e9222b440015ebdf8b2919

Now v1.1.0-p1 is out, and the sha512sum is 14da2424fa77ff060ab9aab38bfdb3c78e72ca3c08203a64b129b53f26033ae66b2bede76ab42734fad8080ac78cb88de16eadeeb0cbbb4c0e38f8d999d71940

qtchooser doesn't exist anymore (conflicts with qt5-base don't know if it really replaces the functionality)

strider2 commented on 2016-08-23 10:40 (UTC)

Solution can be found in this topic (a corrupt file in .icons/default in your home directory) : https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=215758

Last night I wanted to try out the lumina desktop. After a first succesfull first start, I tried to re-login and I couldn't. So I went back to my current installed desktop (KDE plasma 7.5.3) only to find out that almost every application that requires input crashes ! I retried in XFCE4 and found something similar : xcfe4-terminal would not start. What I get in dmesg is : xfce4-terminal[12606]: segfault at 7fff84f85ff8 ip 00007f4992f08d17 sp 00007fff84f85ff0 error 6 in libc-2.24.so[7f4992e90000+195000] And I am not the only one : https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=216068 I de-installed the lumina desktop but the problem remained. I searched in my config files but could not detect anything. If I login from another user in XFCE4, everything works !? What can be the cause of this ?

crossroads1112 commented on 2016-08-09 20:25 (UTC)

Lumina users: I apologize profusely for the delay in updating this package. There was a bug in the script I was using to upload my PKGBUILDS to the AUR which has since been fixed. I am very sorry for the inconvenience. The build should be working now. Please let me know if there are any other problems. Sincerely, crossroads1112 (x-post from lumina-desktop-git comments)

WoefulDerelict commented on 2016-08-09 18:07 (UTC)

FredBezies: I was about to flag it myself as I agree it has been out of date and unusable for too long. I've updated the gist to the current 1.0.0 Release with Patchset 1 for anyone interested.

FredBezies commented on 2016-08-09 13:39 (UTC)

Thanks WoefulDerelict. By the way 1.0.0 is out. https://lumina-desktop.org/version-1-0-0-released/ This PKGBUILD is kinda useless. Flag it to be orphaned.

An example of the workaround proposed by FredBezies applied to the PKGBUILD and updated resources to build the current beta of lumina can be found here: https://gist.github.com/WoefulDerelict/d4c4f947d5d51da3b43258f31f1e05ea Updated for 1.0.0 Release - Patchset 1 on 09-08-2016
