Oh, cool, I've always been wondering what was the proper way to do that.
How is the user supposed to use the webapp in /srv/http (or whatever) then? A symlink, or copying the whole directory?

I think you should keep phpMyAdmin and cgit scheme, and install files in /usr/share/webapps/piwik at default.

Upgraded to 1.5, this version got rid of Flash for graphs! It uses html5/jQuery instead :)

GPG key changed with 4.8.0 release!
You need to import the public key before installing:
gpg --recv-keys F529A27008477483777FC23D63BB30D0E5D2C749
For versions before 4.8.0 you need the old key:
gpg --recv-keys 814E346FA01A20DBB04B6807B5DBD5925590A237
