This current package is MSSQLServer2022.

For anyone who needs to set the compatibility level of a db to migrate to an older version, see this article:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/t-sql/statements/alter-database-transact-sql-compatibility-level?view=sql-server-ver16

NOTES ON libldap 2.4:

Yes there is a newer version in the official repos but the binaries do not run without this version which is listed in the dependencies by Microsoft.

If you have a problem compiling libldapV2.4, go and ask on that package page, not here.

You can get libldap V2.4 here from this AUR package:

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libldap24

@mindriddler

Just vpn'd into Sweeden and tried the source's dir address of "https://packages.microsoft.com/rhel/7/mssql-server-2019/" and can confirm it is very different..

Normally I get the full list of all the different mssql-server rpms wheras this one only gives me "Packages", "config.repo" and "repodata"..

This presents a whole other problem as there might be different variations on different azure region servers..

In the mean time however I can see about maybe doing a host lookup source override for the westeurope azure instance in the PKGBUILD..

@doctorzeus Here is the host lookup

packages.microsoft.com is an alias for apt-geofence-parent.trafficmanager.net. apt-geofence-parent.trafficmanager.net is an alias for csd-apt-weu-d-4.westeurope.cloudapp.azure.com. csd-apt-weu-d-4.westeurope.cloudapp.azure.com has address 13.81.215.193

@mindriddler Just because the link is broken for you doesn't mean its broken for everyone:

I re-downloaded and rebuilt the package as well as downloaded the source link manually and looked for the file in the directory listing of "https://packages.microsoft.com/rhel/7/mssql-server-2019/" it all worked and was there.. Maybe someone else can verify they have the same problem?

Only thing I can think of is that it might be a region issue with "packages.microsoft.com" resolving to a different server with a different directory structure as the packages are all hosted on azure..

Could you do a host lookup on "packages.microsoft.com", i.e:

$ host packages.microsoft.com

@doctorzues so i downloaded a snapshot and modified the pkbuild source to the link i sent you and it worked without any issues. I highly suggest that you update the source as it is broken

@doctorzeus well, i mean.. the link you posted in your response to me works, but the link in Sources does not work. That link gives 404: not found when trying to build. Which indicates that the link is broken.

Just try to change it to the only i linked, im sure it will work.

Everything is pointing to the source is broken

@jorgemota Not sure whats happening with yours sorry. I will boot up a fresh arch VM when I get a chance this week to do a fresh install with no extra deps and see if there is any issues on that to verify..

doctorzeus commented on 2022-11-14 09:42 (UTC)

@mindriddler Source dir under the package build is "https://packages.microsoft.com/rhel/7/mssql-server-2019/" and yes it is correct.

mindriddler commented on 2022-11-14 08:48 (UTC)

Are you using the correct source? When i try to download and build this i get 404: not found and i also tried to go to your source link manually but there i also get 404: not found

I tried to change the URL and i found the correct package on this URL: https://packages.microsoft.com/rhel/7/mssql-server-2019/Packages/m/

So it seems to me that the source should be https://packages.microsoft.com/rhel/7/mssql-server-2019/Packages/m/mssql-server-15.0.4261.1-2.x86_64.rpm

@doctorzeus, I did it at first time, but I tried again, removed all references to files for openssl-1.0* (removed package, removed from pacman cache, removed links, etc) installed with pacman -S openssl-1.0 and mssql-server with tarball and makepkg -si but result remains equals.

doctorzeus commented on 2022-11-11 01:50 (UTC)

@jorgemmota openssl-1.0 is provided by the core repo don't get an AUR version.. Also you shouldn't need openssl-1.1 for this package..

Have you tried installing the package normally without yay?
