I wonder why I cannot find afslog command with this package and I cannot see anyone has any problem with it. So maybe I am doing something wrong or am I? Because of this I cannot get afs token so to get write access to my home folder on afs.

Hi guys, There are new build problems with Linux 4.5 :( This is in addition to the build problems with Linux 4.4. I think the 4.4 patches are still under review?

@Bevan it would be fine with me if you could please forward my post.

There are first reports of data corruption when running OpenAFS on Linux 4.4. The proposed patches should therefore only be considered for testing and debugging and not for actual use in production.

@drslmr: Thank you for testing! I'm glad that it only hit a git workspace that is easy to recover. code -512 is -ERESTARTSYS, so I think you hit exactly the problem that was anticipated on the mailing list: https://lists.openafs.org/pipermail/openafs-info/2016-January/041627.html I think it would be great if you could report this to the mailing list. If you don't want to do that, I'd like to forward your post from here to the mailing list, if you have no objections.

I tried the patch and I get problems. When I do checkout a different branch of my software from a git repository things fail and I'm left with a corrupted workspace. The log files shows the following message: kernel: afs: Lost contact with file server ... in cell ... (code -512) (all multi-homed ip addresses down for the server) kernel: afs: failed to store file (network problems) kernel: afs: file server ... in cell ... is back up (code 0) (multi-homed address; other same-host interfaces may still be down)

@totsilence: If you are brave and have backups, you may test this version: https://github.com/michaellass/AUR/tree/openafs-linux-4.4/openafs-modules https://github.com/michaellass/AUR/tree/openafs-linux-4.4/openafs-modules-dkms Patches applied: http://gerrit.openafs.org/12169 http://gerrit.openafs.org/12170

Thanks @Bevan, but it appears there are no patches, yet (or I couldn't find them). I've opened a bug report on the OpenAFS bug tracker.

Bevan commented on 2016-01-18 16:13 (UTC)

@totsilence: I will have a look and add them if they are already available. This may take until tomorrow, though.

Linux 4.4 is in testing and openafs does not compile. Was anybody able to find the necessary patches?
