Hi @Xyne,
Is there any plan to bring powerpill back to AUR?
Even with pacman’s ParallelDownloads, pacman still invokes the downloader per package URL, so it lacks transaction-level visibility. In contrast, powerpill collects all package URLs upfront and hands them to a single aria2 session, enabling true cross-package scheduling, prioritization, and multi-connection downloads.
Because of this architectural difference, pacman + XferCommand + aria2 cannot fully replace powerpill, especially for large, throttled binary packages (e.g. browsers), where pacman still underutilizes available bandwidth.
Just wanted to share this perspective and ask if a revival (or successor) is being considered.
Thanks for maintaining powerpill.
