I am having trouble activating my installation. I have tried installing pdf-xchange with this package and manually via Bottles. The program accepts my licence key but it will just not activate it, either via online or offline.

Did anyone else have this problem and solved it?

@ciros Yes, will do that in the next update.

@MBK Looked into the "Enhanced OCR engine". It seems like it is a "PDF-XChange Editor Plus" thing and adds a lot of files that takes a lot of space. Since I will never use this and don't want to add additional huge files that I never will use, I will not add this "Enhanced OCR engine". My suggestion is, for someone with a "plus" license (not me :-)), to create a separate "PDF-XChange Editor Plus" package for this.

@swearchnick

Thanks. The default (low quality) OCR engine (Tesseract) now works.

But the Enhanced OCR engine (Finereader) is missing from this install.

To get it to work, copy the folder "ABBYY" from the original install to "/usr/lib/pdf-xchange/Common\ Files/Tracker\ Software/Common/" (It will automatically work with a valid license).

Can you add this? Thanks.

Thanks you for all your comments regarding OCR language. Finally I have had time to try a different approach on this. The package is updated and it works for me now at least.

@alkaid @guiodic @putzwasser

OCR works perfectly when the app is installed with the official setup.exe with wine.

The PRO version has 2 OCR engines (Default & Finereader). I only got the Finereader OCR engine to work starting with wine 9.0 (it works perfectly). With previous wine versions (8.x) only the Default OCR engine worked. The Finereader OCR engine quality is massively better.

No freezing & opened files history works fine.

@alkaid @guiodic

same problem

Additionally: How do I update the OCR language models? I can't OCR any document. In the OCR dialog pdf-xchange tells me that no language package is installed. If I click the add languages button, then I see a list of language models. Every model is said to be installed, but outdated. If I click the update button, then all models get downloaded. When the download finishes pdf-xchange tells me it can't install the packages due to missing write/file permissions (access denied).

Do I need to do it manually? How? I have tesseract-data-eng installed.

Hi, first I want to thank you for maintaining this great package. I have been facing freeze issues (has to force quit) mostly when closing this application (it happened but rarely in other cases too). As a result, it would lose the track of all opened files and history, etc. Has anyone else reported this problem and is there a workaround?
