I created plasma5-applets-gmailfeed and requested the merge with this package, but it's not effective yet. It's how it should be done from what I gathered.

Strange. Did you actually renamed it? I see a https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/plasma5-applets-gmailfeed and also this https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/kdeplasma-applets-gmailfeed.

I renamed the package to plasma5-applets-gmailfeed.

For some reason, kdeplasma-applets-gmailfeed won't get uninstalled automatically when installing plasma5-applets-gmailfeed. So please remove it manually before installing the new package.

If anyone knows why, please let me know.

This package is using old kde4 name. See KDE package guidelines. Consider renaming it or make a deletion request.

@anthon It was my fault, libgmailfeedplugin.so was in the wrong place due to an active conda environment on first compilation. A simple reinstall did not work. After cleaning the build directory and recompiling the package, everything works, thanks!

I have reinstalled the package this morning (no error), everything works like a charm, thanks a lot for the PKGBUILD update @anthon!

anthon commented on 2023-10-23 14:28 (UTC)

@ybeltukov I can't reproduce... Do you have the file /usr/lib/qt/qml/org/kde/plasma/private/gmailfeed/libgmailfeedplugin.so on your system?

ybeltukov commented on 2023-10-23 14:15 (UTC)

A fresh installation of the package gives me the following error in the plasmoid:

file:///usr/share/plasma/plasmoids/org.kde.plasma.gmailfeed/contents/ui/main.qml:24:1: module "org.kde.plasma.private.gmailfeed" is not installed

I do not know how to overcome this problem

@elbowz You can delete package and then reinstall it. However, I get the above error. I get the same error on another computer with freshly installed Archlinux.

with latest update (pacman -Syu) the process was blocked by these dependencies:

:: installing plasma-framework5 (5.111.0-1) breaks dependency 'plasma-framework' required by kdeplasma-applets-gmailfeed
:: installing knotifications5 (5.111.0-1) breaks dependency 'knotifications' required by kdeplasma-applets-gmailfeed

@guiodic appreciate this is a year or so later, but I have added kdeplasma-applets-ultimate-gmailfeed to the AUR - I think it's a fork of this app
