While the name jpype1 looks awful, I'd stick with the older name instead of renaming the package
Debian uses the shorter name: https://packages.debian.org/sid/python-jpype
I have created a new PKGBUILD for a python2 and 3 version. I am not sure about which name is better. jpype1 oder jpype. I'd personally go for the name without the 1, similar to the github project. I have no idea why they named it different on pypi.
Please consider to use this newer PKGBUILD, as python3 support is essential. I will then upload another package that will rely on this. Thatswhy I am asking you for which name to choose.
