After wasting many hours i had always freezing at the end. #1. I have 4GB RAM so my tmpfs /tmp is 2GB (Half of RAM). I have changed my Yaourt's path what i want in /etc/yaourtrc changed #TMPDIR="/tmp" to TMPDIR="/what/i/want/". #2. download.qt-project.org mirror is too slow for me and always have corrupted file after download.I edited PKGBUILD file before installation and replace "http://download.qt-project.org/official_releases/qt/4.8/" line with another offical mirrors here - http://download.qt.io/static/mirrorlist/ (choose nearest mirror and check speed before adding it). #3. Thanks to @Nanawel for the advice: @illogical: Did you try to adjust the "-j" flag in the MAKEFLAGS variable in /etc/makepkg.conf? By default, compilation is single-core, but if you set this flag to the number of cores you have, it will be incredibly faster (well, core-times faster more or less). Compilation only took 21 minutes on my i7, using -j7 in MAKEFLAGS. ( I have Intel® Core™ i3-2310M CPU @ 2.10GHz × 4 CPU and i have changed to MAKEFLAGS="-j4") Result: It takes nearly one hour such low spec notebook so i do some internet browsing while building :). Sorry for my bad English it is not my native language.

@Nanawel: Cheers for that bit of advice mate. I did not look at that option (I'm still quite new to lots of things in the linux world and sadly look to do most things via a GUI - I must get out of this lazy habit). Checking it now reveals that MAKEFLAGS is already correctly set as "j2" (I have a dual core cpu). Many thanks for enlightening me a little more though :-) It is greatly appreciated :-)

Thanks for the advice troyengel. I had no idea that it would take so long (around 1hr 50 min in my case). Update seems to have taken - I think that previously the long time taken by the install (coupled with all the log info - which I incorrectly thought was repeating in a loop) had me thinking that things were going astray. Patience is indeed a virtue! Thanks again to you mate :-)

The package takes 1hr38m to rebuild on my i5-2500 (Dell Optiplex 790) with a standard (non-SSD) disk.

"Never ends" means you didn't let it go long enough. Building webkit takes a very long time.

I've continually had the same experience mentioned by a-bostaurus. Tried to update from qtwebkit2.3.4-4 but the install process never ends. Eventually tried removing to reinstall again hoping this would maybe help -sadly to no avail.

Tried to install it on three computers, but the process of installing does not come to an end, so I had to cancel.
