Hey, @kratz00. The code used for the beta8 and the 1.40.0 release is the same, there isn't need to rename the package or update anything. Everytime that a stable release is tagged, there's a equivalent beta release but not the other way around, soon we will have a 1.41.0-betaX release with features/improvements no included in a stable one, so in summary this package will always be ahead or equal to stable version but never behind. According to the above, my "plans" are to maintain the package as usual.

@Edu4rdSHL

Thanks for keeping this package up to date and all this in a very speedy manner :)

The final 1.40.0 was released yesterday (https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Desktop/releases/tag/v1.40.0)

Time to rename this package and get rid of the 'beta' or what are your plans?

Thanks, cleaning the yarn cache was the step, that I were missing. Now it works. :)

Tammie47, the package is building correctly here in a clean chroot environment. Make sure to clean everything in your current directory excep the PKGBUILD and the patches, run yarn cache clean and delete the node_modules folder. If it's still not working after doing that then you can upload the logs to https://gist.github.com or https://paste.rs and comment.

Somehow, since version 1.40 this hasn't been working. Is there any means to provide some errors or logs? :)

Hello, sorry for the delay, I was a bit busy. Package has been updated and fixed in https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/commit/?h=signal-desktop-beta&id=c12c11db0c0c277d046239f9cb7813132ecb9ba1

@Edu4rdSHL You're right, it still shows these old versions on the website. Which is odd. I guess it's a bug/missing feature of aur.archlinux.org.

But at least AUR helpers will now give a meaningful error message about the nodejs version instead of some cryptic syntax error.

Thanks for applying my suggestion and thanks for maintaining this package!

Currently experiencing the same problem Trix213 is. For anyone who needs Signal more than they need it built from source, signal-desktop-beta-bin works.

Works now! Thanks.

makepkg fails during prepare() stage when calling node prepare_beta_build.js, output is

error Command failed with exit code 1. info Visit https://yarnpkg.com/en/docs/cli/run for documentation about this command. ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in prepare().
