@postpics123 I have not shared any misleading information, its your setup that is out of standard and misleading others. You also have shared incomplete error messages from the beginning and not sharing that you use an AUR helper, that was your problem.

@swearchnick Solved. Soft limit default value on Arch Linux is 1024. By setting it to a very high number your patch works. Please don't share misleading informations, since your settings are evidently out of standard. Thanks.

@swearchnick I mean the patch utility.

@postpics123 There is no version 2.7.6 of the patch, I made it myself, only existing patch is the one here (kernel6.patch). I have a standard Arch Linux setup also. Sorry I cant help you, this package is provided "as is" and working fine for me, good luck!

@swearchnick I have a standard Arch Linux installation, with no custom modification. I think you should post your configuration with respect to

cat /proc/sys/fs/file-max

ulimit -Sn

ulimit -Hn

fs.file-max in /etc/sysctl.conf

DefaultLimitNOFILE in /etc/systemd/system.conf

Which version of patch are you using? I have 2.7.6.

Thanks.

@postpics123 Nothing new since your last post. Everything is working here.

@postpics123 Cannot reproduce, something is wrong with your setup.

postpics123 commented on 2023-02-04 07:43 (UTC)

The new patch gives this error:

patch: **** Can't rename file media/drivers/media/i2c/adv7170.c.ogf7L0h to media/drivers/media/i2c/adv7170.c : Too many open files

Thanks for the update! It compiles successfully on 6.1.6-arch1-1.

I seem to have a different problem, though. For some reason, kaffeine does not show any video when choosing a channel. However, recording works. This may be unrelated to the drivers, though, as I have the same problem with the LTS kernel.
