melltuga : downloading tarball, extract it, and then running makepkg works fine for me. you may have discovered a yaourt bug yourealwaysbe : bsdtar extracts the fonts from the *.exe automagically, cabextract is not needed.

@emel: I had the same problem: the current PKGBUILD doesn't seem to extract the fonts from the exes before trying to install them. I fixed it by editing the PKGBUILD to include for f in *.exe; do cabextract $f done before install -dm755 "$pkgdir/usr/share/fonts/TTF" in the package() function.

I'm fairly sure that this could be made legal for packaged distribution if you ship the exe-files untouched and extract them in post_install() (and remove on port_remove())... I've made a PKGBUILD & install-file that should do this: https://gist.github.com/bkcsoft/6591991 Doesn't really make a difference in AUR (as you're building them locally anyway) but would be nice if someone could comment on the legality of this :)

The checksums failed so I generated new ones with makepkg -g. then trying to install these says ==> Starting package()... install: cannot stat ‘*.ttf’: No such file or directory ==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package(). Aborting... What am I doing wrong here?

Still, tahoma is not part of the core fonts. Also, there is no license file in your installer. If this is part of some MS Office update, it's probably not legal to use this without an Office license.

Thank you for explanation, I didn't know about this issue. I know there are another packages in AUR that provides Tahoma, but nothing is from official sources (one is WINE equivalent of Tahoma which has bad quality and other is from unofficial/illegal source). Btw. I have found that winetricks is downloading Tahoma installer from this official Microsoft FTP server: ftp://64.4.17.176/Softlib/MSLFILES/tahoma32.exe And this installer also contains Tahoma Bold. It can be made to separate package, but IMHO it would be better to include it in this one.

This has been discussed before (take a look at comments starting from 2010-12-08). Basically, tahoma from wd97vwr32.exe misses the bold version and this looks bad in some web pages. Additionally, tahoma is not part of the original core fonts from microsoft that this package is supposed to provide. There are a couple of packages that provide tahoma or you can use your modified PKGBUILD.
