You should actually be installing the files to /usr/share/vim/vimfiles, rather than the vim73 directory. The vimfiles directory is meant for third-party packages like this one, and won't change names between major versions.

Toggle Background plugin not work, because they copied the wrong folder. Please copy the "plugin" folder instead of the "autoload" folder. Replace these lines in the PKGBUILD: install -dm755 $pkgdir/usr/share/vim/vim73/{autoload,bitmaps,colors,doc} install -Dm644 autoload/* $pkgdir/usr/share/vim/vim73/autoload/ to install -dm755 $pkgdir/usr/share/vim/vim73/{plugin,bitmaps,colors,doc} install -Dm644 autoload/* $pkgdir/usr/share/vim/vim73/plugin/
