oops, it is in community repo, not aur.

rcrath commented on 2021-04-12 23:45 (UTC)

used appimage install. there are three versions. the VinnyVynce one is the one that works for e in appimagge. Installed it via bauh, in the aur.

tried applying the outstanding pull request from git but still wont build.

rcrath commented on 2021-02-11 04:27 (UTC)

gives error on wxgtk, won't build

rcrath commented on 2020-05-10 04:33 (UTC)

launch gives error: $ wxmedit wxmedit: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.65: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Installing ICU 65 fixes it, but says it should work with ICU>4.3

slut commented on 2019-04-16 08:06 (UTC)

not currently building

khau commented on 2018-04-27 22:51 (UTC)

Failing to link with the latest libicu* (seeking v60 instead of v61).

wxmedit: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.60: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

With new installed archlinux (4-18), makepkg produces errors when compiling, eg. ['UnicodeString' does not name a type; did you mean ‘Encoding’?] and some with "BreakIterator" declaration.

What to be done with ICU or something else?

I don't think this package needs to depend on the 2.8 version of wxgtk any more, it builds and seems to work fine with the wxgtk 3.0.2-6 package from extra (after changing the PKGBUILD's deps and the ./configure options). The compilation problem from 2014 in the comments here seems to have been fixed in recent versions of the app (with an ifdef: https://github.com/hltj/wxMEdit/blob/3.1/src/wxmedit/wxmedit.cpp#L53 ), and the app's README explicitly mentions support for "wxWidgets 2.8/3.0".

Where did you find this info? After lots of searching i found this: http://allanmcrae.com/2016/01/pacman-5-0-released/ But i am not sure if there is a more accesible source... Anyway, the package is updated. BTW, do you know if the desktop-file-utils dependency is still required?

petronny commented on 2016-05-15 15:20 (UTC)

Please remove update-desktop-database -q from wxmedit.install it is no longer needed now.

codestation commented on 2015-11-19 02:49 (UTC)

Moved boost to makedepends. Didn't bump the version so a rebuild isn't needed. Boost will go away from the dep list automagically on the next package version.

lilydjwg commented on 2015-11-17 10:33 (UTC)

I doubt this package needs boost to run. There are only headers in that package and I can run wxmedit without boost or boost-libs just fine.

Updated the URL but the latest release tarball is still 2.9.8, There is a 2.9.8.3 but marked as prerelease, not sure how unstable is it so i am sticking with the tarball on the "Latest Release" section.

Thank you for this pkg.

Sorry. I've got it wrong. Last issue is with wxHexEditor.

kfgz commented on 2014-05-14 18:10 (UTC)

Also i recently have this message when i try to run wxmedit ASSERT INFO: ./src/gtk/textctrl.cpp(833): assert "IsSingleLine()" failed in GetEditable(): shouldn't be called for multiline BACKTRACE: [1] wxTextCtrl::GetEditable() const [2] wxTextEntry::SetMaxLength(unsigned long) [3] wxScrollBarBase::~wxScrollBarBase() [4] wxScrollBarBase::~wxScrollBarBase() [5] std::vector<wxString, std::allocator<wxString> >::_M_fill_insert(__gnu_cxx::__normal_iterator<wxString*, std::vector<wxString, std::allocator<wxString> > >, unsigned long, wxString const&) [6] wxEntry(int&, wchar_t**) [7] __libc_start_main

kfgz commented on 2014-04-29 18:41 (UTC)

It seems that wxmedit suffers the same bug as madedit - cursor is not visible. Maybe onpaint patch from madedit would fix this.

blixawillbargeld commented on 2014-03-02 11:26 (UTC)

You should also add git as dependency Else it's working great. Good to see a fork of my fav. editor!

codestation commented on 2014-01-16 04:00 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay, updated dep to wxgtk2.8 and force it to use this instead of wxgtk 3.0.

Working now. Thanks for the PKGBUILD :-)

Oops, added boost as a dependency. Thanks for the report.

Hello, thank you for the PKGBUILD, good to see a madedit fork here. I get the following error message: checking boost/config.hpp usability... no checking boost/config.hpp presence... no checking for boost/config.hpp... no configure: error: cannot find required header boost/config.hpp
