kdenlive-appImage is currently broken on Arch based systems. Turns out Kdenlive’s Appimage is not a true appimage, in the sense that it contains all of the system files needed in the Appimage, it is essentially the kdenlive binaries and it still relies on the host system libs.

@ValHue I tried that, but ran into an issue where if the PKGBUILD file needed to be fixed or changed for any reason, I would have to change the pkgrel in order for GIT to push the changes. This would of course throw the package version out of sequence because the package would no longer match the actual package.

My current scheme, is to use pkgrel to enumerate any changes to the PKGBUILD files. version x.yy.z-0 means no change to the PKGBUILD, x.yy.z-1 means there has been a revision to the PKGBUILD etc.

I understand the wiki but it does not account for changes in the PKGBUILD.

It would be appreciated if pkgrel would conform to what is determined in the wiki. It should start at 1, and increase as the same package is updated. When the version changes, pkgrel resets to 1.

Thanks for maintaining this package.

@Kunda It does not look like the AppImage is a "true" Appimage, just the binaries encapsulated in an AppImage. I have updated to 23.08.4 but it still has the same issue.

The AppImage used to be extremely stable, which is the reason I started using. I think you are better off going with Flatpak or the repo binaries moving forward.

23.08.04 released. Is it a legit appimage ?

@MarSeed I agree, I will wait for the next release from the Kdenlive team, if it is still broken, I will remove this package from the AUR.

MarsSeed commented on 2023-12-03 10:54 (UTC)

In that case I recommend that this package can be deleted. It turned out that only one other user used it earlier on an old Manjaro release, but no longer needs it. I certainly don't.

Extra repo carries a proper build of Kdenlive, which is compatible with the system libraries.

I see.

I think that it is safe to update from v22.04.1 to v22.04.2.

It is likely that the buggy version was the old v21.12.3.

Reply to MarsSeed: I have not rendered a video utilizing the latest version of kdenlive.

MarsSeed commented on 2023-06-18 15:45 (UTC)

On the linked subreddit, the OP who posted 2 months ago mentions the problem with kdenlive v22.12.3.

That is a very outdated version now, as the new main version has been released this April.

@rev.cressy, did you since test your render with repo version of kdenlive v23.04.2? Maybe the issue was resolved since v22.12.3.
