Can you try by simply downloading and extracting the manyverse-0.2208.5-beta.tar.gz file ? Once it's extracted you should be able to simply execute the file called manyverse. If it still fail to start that would mean that the error is not specific to this package but to the build or your environment itself.

There's an error when trying to launch it: /opt/Manyverse/manyverse: error while loading shared libraries: libffmpeg.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Can you check in /opt/Manyverse/ if the file is there, if not the package is probably corrupt, you can also check which file should be there by running pacman -Ql manyverse-bin

On my computer the file is there and pacman list it when I run the command.

Not sure what best practice is but that sounds like a good idea. Just remember to pass along cli options.

Would also be nice to be able to easily launch the app from the command line, i.e. add it to the PATH

How would you do that ? Add a wrapper in /usr/bin ?

Awesome that you published this! I was gonna try it myself but happy for someone else to do it instead :D

Are you able to open ssb: links like the one on https://staltz.hermies.club/ ? I haven't gotten it to work here even if other people say it's working on e.g. ubuntu. It might help to take inspiration from the .deb desktop file but not sure:
