Apparently, PassFF now requires semantic versioning in the binary, so just using the package version doesn't suffice any more. Should be fixed now.

I have version 1.2.3 installed, fully restarted both the process and firefox, but still get:

Connection to the host app failed or returned an unexpected result!

It doesn't need to be started. If the passff extension is still complaining that it can't connect to the host, just disable and enable the extension to restart it and it should work.
