Have pushed an update to build with maturin, however I haven't been able to get any maturin binaries to work on my machine, so can't really test further than build/install
Curious if this works for anyone else

@HellishINC @skylabhalo Do you get these same problems when building bcml from git manually? If so then they are issues upstream, not with packaging, so you will need to make an issue there.
Additionally they may be caused by the generated desktop file somehow, do they still occur when just running bcml from a terminal?

Can confirm that closing the application kills the sddm/plasma session. Very unfortunate as that is also what the Deck runs.

builds and launches after editing the pkgbuild of python-oead bcml starts and I'm able to add some mods and there are certain ones which just crash bcml like the xbox one ui mod

@guttles I can't help you without the specific python-oead error
[edit] this is an error with python-oead using a version of abseil that doesnt work with current versions of glibc, I have left a comment on that package with a diff that does allow the package to build, but go nag the dev to update abseil themself as I can make no guarantees of it working or being without bugs. https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python-oead#comment-853910

I fails to to install, giving an error when making python-oead, and I am not sure how to fix that. I have gcc installed.

Understood; I appreciate the clarification there
But yeah, the Plasma issue is quite severe; not sure why it happens, it's quite odd
ibrokemypie commented on 2022-01-18 13:17 (UTC)
Not sure whats up with plasma, though the desktop entry was just a generated one as bcml doesn't supply one. The missing makedeps were added the clr_loader, though I am not the maintainer of python-pythonet so you will have to bug its maintainer. Either way neither are required anymore. I've made python-oead now require gcc, though as I am not the author I had no idea it required it until your issue.

Also, running bcml via my desktop environment (Plasma) causes my DE to completely break after closing bcml, but doesn't do this if I run
bcml
via the terminal instead. :/Which is very odd

Also,
python-clr_loader
is missing makedepends:'python-wheel' 'dotnet-sdk'
and
python-pythonnet
is missing makedepends:"python-setuptools" "dotnet-sdk" "python-pip" "python-clr_loader"
The
python-oead
issue was a result of having Clang set as the compiler globally - the packager should enforce GCC in the PKGBUILD they packager know it doesn't compile with Clang; both were installed but the necessary variables weren't exported to overridemakepkg.conf
