A shoutout to https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/discord_arch_electron/ (use that one if you want stable instead of canary!) :p

This is just a PKGBUILD based on the original discord-canary PKGBUILD and the discord_arch_electron PKGBUILD to use with Canary instead.

Discord on the latest version uses Electron 22 by itself. Might be worth using the official version if that is what you're after.

!! As Electron 28 joined the official repos, I've pinned this to electron26 instead, as using Electron 28 results on a crash at startup. If it ever works with Electron 28, please let me know.

While it's possible to use Electron 13, it does not receive more security updates. Feel free to change electron19 to electron13 yourself, that should work. Added the !strip option to fix Krisp. too. Thanks for the notification.

Is it possible to set electron to electron13? With v19, streaming and watching other streams is not possible.

Sir-Photch commented on 2022-11-14 16:43 (UTC)

please add options=(!strip) to the packagebuild, as suggested in discrod_arch_electron

LICENSE.html and OSS-LICENSES.html are failing the validity check

I edited their expected sha256 in PKGBUILD with what sha256sum returned and ran makepkg && yay -U ./discord-canary-electron-bin-0.0.142-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

If you cant wait for update, since Discord won't launch until then...

-In PKGBUILD..

-change pkgver to 0.0.142

-change sha256sums to fc45890b7845201ab01daf73e2731647b0a9a1aa9863ea6fc3ed6f72ae05d0b5

-makepkg

-sudo pacman -U discord-canary-electron-bin-0.0.142-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

streams (share and playback) working with electron 16 builded with ffmpeg4.4. HW accel enabled and no one electron flags about multimedia/gpu

Kodehawa commented on 2022-10-11 14:32 (UTC)

Yeah, streaming is broken, but I also couldn't really tell you why

Sir-Photch commented on 2022-10-11 07:37 (UTC)

I can confirm that streaming or watching streams does not work with this client.

theriddick commented on 2022-08-18 04:05 (UTC) (edited on 2022-08-19 08:32 (UTC) by theriddick)

unable to watch streams. internal reset. --enable-accelerated-mjpeg-decode --enable-accelerated-video --ignore-gpu-blacklist --enable-native-gpu-memory-buffers --enable-gpu-rasterization

Doesn't work. Discord canary electron cannot stream or watch streams anymore. (AMD 6800XT)

Normal Discord Electron appears to stream just fine.
