It's a few years late, but I've finally fixed this game! It now uses winetricks to create a virtual 1024x768 Windows XP environment and runs the game inside it, which prevents all sorts of crashes and weird issues.

It crashed d-bus here right after starting the game. My whole desktop went black afterwards :)

All right so I've updated the package and bumped pkgrel. However, on my laptop the game is crashing shortly after the menu appears. It's likely a dependency problem and I'll take another look at my work PC tomorrow.
Edit: The issue seems to be audio related, wine complains about pulse/alsa stuff.
