Update to 5.15 kernel and got this:

Module evdi not found in directory /lib/modules/5.15.2-arch1-1

UPDATE:

It's an upstream problem... 5.15 not supported yet.

I solved with my fork package.

https://github.com/aaronrancsik/evdi-arch

Leaving it here maybe it's useful for someone or for the maintainer of this package.

@zwastik @korrat I ran into the same problem this morning, and using the evdi-git package works as expected. Full system update as of 1054 hours UTC-8 on 10 November 2021, kernel package linux 5.14.16.arch1-1.

@zwastik, no the dependency on linux-headers is handled by the dmks package (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/DKMS_package_guidelines#Dependencies).

As for your error: the current release of evdi is not yet compatible with the 5.13 kernel, but a patch has been merged upstream. Check if evdi-git works for you.

This package should depend on linux-headers, right?

Anyway, I am having this error:

Install DKMS modules

==> dkms install --no-depmod -m evdi -v 1.9.1 -k 5.13.7-arch1-1

Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 5.13.7-arch1-1 (x86_64)

Thanks @Venom1991 for your solution. Can confirm it worked on 5.11.11-arch1-1.

LTS doesnt help. Display still borked

mwawrzyniak commented on 2021-03-14 04:13 (UTC)

As per my comment earlier. This package is not out of date. Also evdi doesn't work properly with the 5.11 kernel. Stick with LTS for proper operation.

Thank @minifridge, indeed using LTS version helps.

Module is not building with the 5.11 kernel see issue below:

https://github.com/DisplayLink/evdi/issues/249

The applied patch connects the screen but the system freezes.

As a workaround LTS kernel works just fine.
