@Aurelias: I'm currently on holiday in Japan, but my OOD packages will be updated shortly after I get back to my desktop (approx. five days time).
EDIT: forgot I'm a co-maintainer of this package. 2bluesc, are you still active?

Hello WorMzy, Seems EVPN has (yet again) released a newer version than is currently available in the AUR. Any chance you will be upgrading it shortly? I note someone has flagged the current package here as out-of-date on 2018-03-04. Cheers.

I have solved my problem. Is seem that expressvpn (in some previous version?) substituted /etc/resolv.conf with a link to /var/run/expressvpn/resolv.conf Now I have changed resolv.conf from symbolic link to the real file and all is working.

I have a fix good enough for me after reading the top comment here: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=228677
Create an alias in your profile: alias expressvpn-disconnect='expressvpn disconnect && sudo sh -c "echo nameserver 8.8.8.8 > /etc/resolv.conf"'
Every time you connect to the VPN it creates the file /ect/resolv.conf, re-writing that file to use google's DNS server when you disconnect allows you to connect without the VPN.
brokenbadger and Anointed, enter the command: systemctl enable expressvpn.service
That makes sure the service is started automatically on boot.
Anointed commented on 2018-02-22 06:57 (UTC)
I have the same issue as brokenbadger but when I follow WorMzy's advice and attempt to enable the service like so:
systemctl start unit
I get the following error:
Failed to start unit.service: Unit unit.service not found.
I'm new to arch and would also appreciate any pointers since I do want to get ExpreeVPN up and running.
Thanks in advance

It seems that, after connecting to a expressvpn server, when I switch back to normal (not vpn) connection dns servers are lost. This is happening only with last NetworkManager 1.10.5dev+3+g5159c34ea-1- Switching back to previous version fix the problem. The difference is that /etc/resolv.conf (pointing to /var/run/expressvpn/resolv.conf) is empty after switching back, where before not.
EDIT: the problem seems that after a reboot the file /var/run/expressvpn/resolv.conf disappears

Hey WorMzy,
Thats solved it, thanks! I thought it might be something simple to fix, but im still a bit green when it comes to a lot of CLI commands. Im loving the Arch structure and I know asking questions on the AUR when not using a pure Arch install is mostly frowned upon (understandable), so I appreciate the "pointer" even more.
Please keep up the great work.

Please note that, as of version 4.0, ExpressVPN have switched to a new "universal installer" which replaces their previous distro-specific packages (.deb/.rpm/.pkg) and bypasses package managers entirely (mostly dumping stuff to /opt). I have rewritten the PKGBUILD to repackage what this new installer does so it can still be tracked by pacman, but there's no telling how well this will work going forward (particularly since this new version supposedly has a self-updater built in.)
The new ExpressVPN version is still in beta, so I've not pushed an update to this package yet, if you're interested in testing it out, it's available at https://codeberg.org/WorMzy/aur-packages/src/branch/main/expressvpn
Note: you may need to flush your iptables rules after upgrading in order to restore internet access, use
iptables -F
to do so.paintie commented on 2020-07-28 21:16 (UTC)
