Please note that, as of version 4.0, ExpressVPN have switched to a new "universal installer" which replaces their previous distro-specific packages (.deb/.rpm/.pkg) and bypasses package managers entirely (mostly dumping stuff to /opt). I have rewritten the PKGBUILD to repackage what this new installer does so it can still be tracked by pacman, but there's no telling how well this will work going forward (particularly since this new version supposedly has a self-updater built in.)

The new ExpressVPN version is still in beta, so I've not pushed an update to this package yet, if you're interested in testing it out, it's available at https://codeberg.org/WorMzy/aur-packages/src/branch/main/expressvpn

Note: you may need to flush your iptables rules after upgrading in order to restore internet access, use iptables -F to do so.

Please don't mark out of date for checksum problems. Seems that updpkgsums replaced the 'SKIP' value with an actual value. Will fix shortly.

Hello! Installation fails for me with this error: ==> Validating source files with sha512sums... license-20170317.html ... FAILED ==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check! Thank you for maintaining this package.

Wow, how unusual. Thanks for letting us know. That's really shocking. Goodness me, I wonder what may have caused that. If only I knew why and explained the reasoning behind it and posted links to information about it several times over the past six months on this package alone...

Hi, I had to add gpg --recv-key AFF2A1415F6A3A38 For this package to install - just FYI

Yes, thanks for this. I have been told the same on my distro (that there is no abnormal conflict). Not shutting down properly the service before shutting down the computer was probably the reason of my computer crash because this was not "fair use". When I use the service more carefully, nothing happens. Sorry for this.

If there is a packaging bug, we will fix it, but this isn't the right place for technical support. Please open a topic on your distribution's support forum. I will say that conflicting with shutdown.target is a normal thing. It just means that running services should exit before system shutdown is completed.

After two days working non stop (service resuming after sleep) I experienced a computer crash. I had to fsck the distro from outside. On new start the clock was wrong and I had to manually correct it. Please find this image which seems to confirm there is a "conflict" with this package. Now the service is working again but I will stop it every time the computer goes to sleep. Let me know if you need some more information.

Just to report success using first gpg --recv-keys AFF2A1415F6A3A38 before proceeding to compilation The following "green tip" seemed to work but finally failed for unknown reason. "Adding keyserver-options auto-key-retrieve to gpg.conf will automatically fetch keys from the key server as needed." Thanks again for making this nice software available.

@WorMzy Thanks for the link and your quick answer.

The key is used by the developers to sign the download, and we use it to verify the download hasn't been tampered with. See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Makepkg#Signature_checking and for automating key retrieval, see the green tip at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GnuPG#Use_a_keyserver
