Community,

The Fortinet provides two products, "FortiClient EMS" and "FortiClient VPN only". This package only correspond to "FortiClient VPN only" and your lastest version is 7.0.7.0246 at 03-09-2023.

If you are interested in "FortiClient EMS", I suggest following the AUR package 'forticlient' [https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/forticlient]

@gaya4 @douglasimcabral

I've tried a force update (by updating the PKGBUILD sources and sha256sums) and I've got installed the 7.0.6.0214 version, but it doesn't start properly (it starts but the window keeps empty/blank) because apparently it depends on something more than this 7.0.0 version, I can see in the debian control file (inside the .deb), it depends on:

Depends:
libc6 (>= 2.15)
libappindicator1 (>> 0) | libayatana-appindicator1 (>> 0)
libudev1 (>> 0)
libgconf-2-4 (>> 0)
libatk-bridge2.0-0 (>= 2.5.3)
libatk1.0-0 (>= 2.2.0)
libatspi2.0-0 (>= 2.9.90)
libcairo2 (>= 1.6.0)
libcups2 (>= 1.4.0)
libexpat1 (>= 2.0.1)
libgcc1 (>= 1:3.0)
libglib2.0-0 (>= 2.35.8)
libgtk-3-0 (>= 3.9.10)
libnspr4 (>= 2:4.9-2~)
libnss3 (>= 2:3.22)
libpango-1.0-0 (>= 1.14.0)
libpangocairo-1.0-0 (>= 1.14.0)
libx11-6 (>= 2:1.4.99.1)
libx11-xcb1
libxcb1 (>= 1.6)
libxcomposite1 (>= 1:0.3-1)
libxcursor1 (>> 1.1.2)
libxdamage1 (>= 1:1.1)
libxext6
libxfixes3 (>= 1:5.0)
libxi6 (>= 2:1.2.99.4)
libxrandr2 (>= 2:1.2.99.3)
libxrender1
libxss1
libxtst6
libsecret-1-0 (>= 0.18.4)
gzip (>= 1.6)
libnss3-tools (>= 3.21)

Some idea to update this package? Not sure if updating it to the 7.0.6 version will solve my problem.

Is somebody else having some connection problem with this client? I cannot connect with it (I'm however able to connect with openfortivpn). I can see in the logs a message saying:

main:1457 exception: Backup routing table failed

Not sure if this is because the client or some misconfiguration in the FortiGate, but ... as I've said ... openfortivpn works as expected ... so not sure about the misconfiguration issue.

@douglasimcabral

you can find them from the repo.fortinet.com (without login) Version 7: https://repo.fortinet.com/repo/7.0/ubuntu/pool/multiverse/forticlient/ latest by today is 7.0.4.

version 6 - despite on the site as directory, is filled with the same v7 debs, so seems v6 has been ditched.

Thank you.

@thbergler, I depend on the official Linux package release in .deb or .rpm format at the official URL

When will the package be updated? I am in need for the version 7.0.3.0137.

I get the contents of the FortiClient window, but the window itself has no border nor title bar and eventually after a lot of gnome-shell crashes, I get the gray logout screen.

Doesn't work - just getting a blank screen with the menu bar at the top.

libappindicator-gtk2 is installed. fctshed service isn't running, and trying to start it at /opt/forticlient/fctshed just results in error "Failed to create instance lock file"

edit: got it working. Make sure you run:

sudo systemctl enable forticlient-scheduler
sudo systemctl start forticlient-scheduler

The package was updated and I took the opportunity to include libappindicator-gtk2 as a dependency non-optional.
