@drakkan how can this be fixed?

I've made a PR to fix the stylesheet for GNOME 42, in case you want to use the patch for this package https://github.com/micheleg/dash-to-dock/pull/1720 It fixes some issues with the spacings and margins that weren't properly fixed in the ubuntu-dock branch.
You can find the patch file in the link below, as it's a patch I made for the dash-to-dock package in Kali Linux https://gitlab.com/kalilinux/packages/gnome-shell-extension-dashtodock/-/blob/kali/master/debian/patches/fix-stylesheet-for-gnome-42.patch

@rayshabh please try the latest update, it should be fixed now. It is really unfortunate that this package is not well maintained upstream and we have to use a different branch (with a different naming scheme) every time

@drakkan When I run “yay -Syu”, it gives an output:
1 Packages to upgrade. 1 aur/gnome-shell-extension-dash-to-dock 72_ubuntu4+5+gbe6bb53-1 -> 72+7+gbe6bb53-1
But when trying to upgrade the package, it fails to update to newer version. The output I get is:
gnome-shell-extension-dash-to-dock-72_ubuntu4+5+gbe6bb53-1 already made -- skipping build loading packages... warning: gnome-shell-extension-dash-to-dock-72_ubuntu4+5+gbe6bb53-1 is up to date -- reinstalling
Please help!

With Gnome 42 now, I've switched to this fork for the moment to avoid a strange curved empty space above my left-sided dock: https://github.com/ugjka/dash-to-dock

Fwiw the version packaged by @drakkan is working very well for me. It seems Canonical has more capacity to invest in this extension than others, so perhaps we shouldn't mind it being identified as "Ubuntu Dock".

I don't have much time for this sorry, please try the changes here and here and report if they work for you. The extension does not load for me after these changes, maybe I have to remove some sed magic.
If you have time, I think a git diff between the base branch and the ubuntu dock branch can help to understand what we have to change, thanks!

hm, it didn't cause much issue for me(I just renamed it from ubuntu-dock@... to dash-to-dock@...) and it worked fine. Tho I don't know if other extensions would interfere with this?
drakkan commented on 2022-04-08 20:03 (UTC)
@Neubulae, renaming the UUID seems to cause issues for me, I have no more time to investigate further for now (I don't use dash to panel), sorry
