Please note that Epic has delisted Unreal on GOG.

This package works with the GOG installer (I don't know if it works with other versions), and applies OldUnreal's patch.

It provides /usr/bin/gog-unreal-tournament-goty (originally ut-bin) for playing and /usr/bin/gog-unreal-tournament-goty-ucc (originally ucc-bin) for dedicated servers/etc.

Build failed for me with error tar: OldUnreal-UTPatch469a-Linux.tar.bz2: Cannot open: No such file or directory

It seems the PKGBUILD has a typo. In line 31 it still says "OldUnreal-UTPatch469a-Linux.tar.bz2" instead of "OldUnreal-UTPatch469b-Linux.tar.bz2".

Fixing that helped.

Indeed it should, thank you for the heads-up!

Seems to work fine for the most part, however, get no sound and a "ALSA lib dlmisc.c:339:(snd_dlobj_cache_get0) Cannot open shared library libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so (libpulse.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)" error unless lib32-libpulse is installed; perhaps it should be a dependency.

Thanks @MindfulProtons, I think it's fixed now.

@zachasme I see the mistake, actually. You named the desktop file as applications, rather than putting it into /usr/share/applications.

MindfulProtons commented on 2021-01-04 13:47 (UTC)

@zachasme The package is now reporting that it can't install, seeing as /usr/share/applications exists.

Thanks, @MindfulProtons! I didn't know you had to omit $pkgdir from symlink targets in PKGBUILDs. I've fixed the binary, but couldn't find any other files linking back to the PKGBUILD directory.

MindfulProtons commented on 2021-01-03 04:56 (UTC)

Unfortunately, this package is slightly broken, as the package links back to where the PKGBUILD was located, with the config files and the game's executable being located in the pkg directory of where the PKGBUILD is located. Therefore, if you attempt to say, clear yay cache or just clean up PKGBUILDs, you end up breaking the whole game, since the /usr/bin/gog-unreal-tournament-goty and its config files and the game files are all located in the pkg directory, not in the directories it's supposed to be in. I'm not exactly sure of how you would fix this, but it's not intentional behavior.

Thanks @BillFlemming! I've updated the PKGBUILD based on the one you linked. :-)

Please see here for my improved PKGBUILD with the following extra features: Launcher script (Was used for audio fix in old version, but left it in case you want to easily add custom launch options.) UT99.desktop application shortcut that shows the correct icon (will show up in programs menu under "Games") Change permissions of the game's dir (777) to be able to add mods easier (also maybe to fix game saves) If you add a folder called "addons" next to the PKGBUILD whatever you put in there will be added to the root of the game's folder. So you can easily shove some mods and extra levels into the package file. See yall in the Tournament! :-)
