This package tracks the git Master branch. As stated in the README file, this is not recommended and generally unsupported.

Please consider installing the main package tracking named releases instead.

Ah, you're right. It can't be created by the package because it runs under a chroot, but the program should take care of it. Thanks for the report!

You should probably create $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/jftui in the PKGBUILD or make jftui create the directory if it doesn't exist. Now it fails to save the settings unless you manually create it.
