Ah, you're right. It can't be created by the package because it runs under a chroot, but the program should take care of it. Thanks for the report!
You should probably create $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/jftui
in the PKGBUILD or make jftui create the directory if it doesn't exist. Now it fails to save the settings unless you manually create it.
