I found the following in slimserver.log: [12-06-06 21:02:29.7407] YAML::XS::LoadFile (48) Warning: Usage: YAML::XS::LibYAML::Load(yaml_sv) at /opt/logitechmediaserver/CPAN/YAML/XS.pm line 48. Could it be that perl-yaml is a dependency? (the package as it is doesn't work for me so I'm searching for possible solutions)

Renophaston: Unfortunately I have no idea. When a new perl comes out, I focus on making sure all modules build properly, and then test on my squeezebox. Since everything seems to be working for me, I cannot investigate your problem. However, be sure to let me know if/when you find a solution to it, so I can package it. Good luck!

I posted at the slimdevices forum (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?95408-perl-7-16&p=706884&viewfull=1#post706884), but just in case you have an idea of what's wrong, pause/play/previous/next are not working for me now in some contexts. More details are in the linked forum post. And thanks a ton, vesath, for maintaining this package!

Thank you for the new PKGBUILD! I haven't done any extensive testing, but the basics seems to work. I had some problems building at first since I had some stray perl 5.14-modules from CPAN left in /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl. If anyone uses CPAN, make sure you move the old modules out of the way first (or rebuild them).

Thanks for the explanation! Wasn't aware that there need modules to be rebuilt. I'll try to be patient or have a look into it, if I find some time… :)

Problem is building the modules for /opt/logitechmediaserver/CPAN/arch/5.*/: either upstream does it for us (often after a new perl has been pushed to Arch) or we need to do it ourselves and fix what goes wrong ourselves too. That is what the build_cpan function of the PKGBUILD is for. You can try fiddling with it to build logitechmediaserver for perl>5.14 but it will be challenging if you are not into that kind of things...

patrickh commented on 2012-05-28 11:48 (UTC)

Is it really not compatible with perl >=5.15? Would it be much work to change it or is it necessary that Logitech provides a new version? Because this dependency breaks my sysupgrade right now…

theking2: So you removed the provided 32-bit binaries and replaced them by symlinks to system binaries? Didn't the provided 32-bit binaries work if you had lib32-glibc and lib32-gcc-libs installed?

ehm, that is /opt/logitechmediaserver/Bin/i386-linux
