If you have any additional Minetest packages installed that use the /usr/share/minetest directory, those will be ignored without manually linking or moving them into the /usr/share/luanti directory.

For the server package this applies too. The directory /etc/luanti is set up. So if you have any previous server configuration, you need to manually move/copy over the data to the created /etc/luanti directory as well as /var/lib/minetest being ignored in favor of /var/lib/luanti

The suggested/endorsed method to install mods or games for Luanti is using the Content Database anyways. (For servers, manually managing them using Git is the common way).
