Sadly, it is still not working. I asked the guy at the https://github.com/linux-on-mac/mbpfan to fix the issue for iMacs. He seemed that he fixed it but he mistyped (I think) a value and now the package (apparently) doesnt even work for MBP anymore.... :(((

Oh! Ok I will uninstall the old package and I will reinstall it! I didnt know. Thanks for your help and I hope to have helped other users with the same issue!

Nice! Since this is a git package all you need to do do is to reinstall this AUR package (with yay or yaourt or whatever you are using). It will automatically get the latest code and build the package from it.

They just fixed the "Error: max_fan_speed value is not 6200" issue on https://github.com/linux-on-mac/mbpfan !

Can the package mantainer repackage it, please? Thanks!

Hey. I had the same issue on a MBP late 2013. It seems to me this is fairly "normal". Anyway, this should be handled on GitHub, I'm just maintaining this package, not the software. In fact there is already at least one issue about it: https://github.com/linux-on-mac/mbpfan/issues/212

Same here. I tried to install it on my iMac mid 2011 and I get the error "Error: max_fan_speed value is not 6200" . If you Google "Error: max_fan_speed value is not 6200" you will see that other ppl are having the same issue so , maybe, it is worth having a look into this issue. Please don't leave iMac users behind as a lot of them are using Arch/Manjaro OS!

Hello everyone. Even after setting the max and min speed of the fan in the mbpfan.conf I get "Error: max_fan_speed value is not 6200" when running the tests. I get this error no matter what value I place there. Any ideas?

I've updated the PKGBUILD to backup /etc/mbpfan.conf automatically.

Is it possible to update PKGBUILD to stop /etc/mbpfan.conf being overwritten with default?

Disowned since I don't use it anymore.
