It's automatic. When you invoke `modprobed_db store` AND there are modules probed that are not in your database, you will be notified as such: % modprobed_db store The db currently contains this many records: 203 New module(s) detected: btrfs Updating db... The db now contains this many records: 204

Ok, call me stupid but how do you actually use this new diff feature? I couldn't see anything in the 2.10 script. Thanks.

Comment by: broken.pipe on Sun, 09 Sep 2012 17:24:00 +0000 is it possible to add some kind of diff feature to show which modules are new since the last storage? Yes! Try version 2.10

Yeah, I've already done it two weeks ago but no one bothered to reply: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=148322

@lockheed - you mind starting a thread on this. others in here probably don't want to read notifications regarding your issue :p

lockheed commented on 2012-09-15 13:40 (UTC)

Of course I did. Root crontab, that is.

graysky commented on 2012-09-15 13:30 (UTC)

@lockheed - Did you setup a cron entry to have it run per the wiki? @broken - Patches welcomed!

is it possible to add some kind of diff feature to show which modules are new since the last storage? sometimes i'm wondering which new module has been "modprobed" especially after a kernel upgrade from the repo!
