Maybe a solution could be to add a message or an optional dependency to explain that a mono-font is needed like terminus-font.

@cdemoulins - I think that any monospaced font will work. Have a look at http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=100416 and if you can figure it out, please post there too :)
