@neeshy:

Would be nice if you at least acknowledged that you read these comments.

And reply and state your opinions. Instead of just "bumping" and updating the PKGBUILD ignoring the comments.

Even if you do not intend to follow any advice made here.

So that other PKGBUILD maintainers can best update their own PKGBUILDS. These are valid concerns, especially about the "Conflicts" tags.

Thanks for your work on this PKGBUILD.

Unfortunately you choose to just call it just "mpvc".

Maybe you didnt check the AUR before to see if it there were already others containing this name ?

The result is unnecessary confusion for end users. Which you can avoid if you just choose a better name for this PKBUILD.

mpvc-git
mpvc-rs
ncmpvc-git

Please check the AUR and PKGBUILD guidelines and rename this PKGBUILD.

Some sugestions of mine:

  • mpvc-neeshy-rs
  • mpvc-rs-2
  • mpvc-ipc-rs

You should also think of the name of the installed binary. If you are gonna call it just "/usr/bin/mpvc" without also renaming the binary, then you should add "Conflicts With" tag to this PKGBUILD.

So that users can choose to install one of "mpvc-git", "mpvc-rs" or "mpvc-xxx" . But not all of them simultaneosuly. That makes a big mess on the system.

Actually if I was you I would even] rename your project fork on github itself. As https://github.com/lwilletts/mpvc is also there on github, much much older, and very well maintained and updated. But that's of course up to you.
