That fixed it, thanks! The cached python-polib was corrupted and not properly installed.

All is fine on my end. What happens if you force a reinstall of python-polib before the build? (You should have /usr/lib/python3.12/site-packages/polib.py)

I’ve been getting build failures for a while now:

==> Starting build()...
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/home/sean/.cache/yay/odio/src/odio-24.8.1/setup.py", line 6, in <module>
    import os, polib, configparser
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'polib'

Both of the makedepends packages (python-setuptools & python-polib) are already installed.
