tried to install this package, but apparently config-tool no longer exists anywhere in the aur or main repos

  $ yay -Qo config-tool    
  error: No package owns config-tool
  $ sudo pacman -Qo config-tool
  error: No package owns config-tool

had tweaked PKGBUILD and am installing via makepkg

# ...
build() {
  cd "$srcdir/${_gitname}"
  sed -i "s/config-tool/pkg-config/" meson.build
  ./configure \
# ...

I already opened a MR to apply this patch to our QEMU fork. In the meantime you can edit the PKGBUILD file to apply the patch that @redfast00 mentioned.

@lucassvaz, oops, sorry for the confusion, this was already reported and fixed in upstream QEMU, but not yet in espressif's qemu.

I built with devtools. If you don't know, in the folder with PKGBUILD:

mkdir chroot
CHROOT=$(pwd)/chroot
mkarchroot $CHROOT/root base-devel
makechrootpkg -c -r $CHROOT
