Re: The tests take a very long time to run.

When I adopted this package, checks were disabled. Upon enabling them, I saw a large number of failures. Leaving the checks enabled will prevent problems from going unnoticed.

Users who rebuild frequently may not need to run checks after every build. They may opt for one of the following:

  • Pass the --nocheck option to makepkg to skip the tests.
  • Configure makepkg to disable checks by default.
    • Edit the BUILDENV array in /etc/makepkg.conf.
    • Occasionally use the --check option.

With the current develop branch (1916.40568e5), /usr/bin/qtile throws: pkg_resources.VersionConflict: (cairocffi 0.5.4 (/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages), Requirement.parse('cairocffi>=0.6')) Which is weird, because python2-cairocffi-xcffib-git also seems to point to the latest commit?

Sorry, I pressed it by mistake, and now cannot restore..

Why would you flag a git package as out of date?

leafonsword, yeah, pycairo-xcb it's a replacement, with xcb enable

leafonsword commented on 2014-01-30 09:04 (UTC)

:: pycairo-xcb-git and python2-cairo are in conflict. Remove python2-cairo? [y/N] Could I remove python2-cairo?

rpodgorny, you are right, fixed

since this is (supposedly) a pure python thing, shouldn't the arch be set to 'any' (instead of 'i686' and 'x86_64')?

the inclusion of the config examples repo in this package is confusing. because that repo uses configs that are not necessarily in sync with the main repo. that's what was causing the breakage. the correct thing to do is copying the config from /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/libqtile/resources/default_config.py instead the package should probably print this advice as a postinst message
