This package builds the raccoon software from source. Since the mainainer is in the process of abandoning Github (see [0] for reasons) and the sources are not available otherwise yet, this package will sit at the last released version published on Github, until new sources are available. If you wish to use the more recent versions of the program instead of waiting for the sources to be released, you can use raccoon-bin [1] as a workaround for now.

Please don't flag this package out-of-date, unless new source versions are available. Thank you for your understanding.

@jghodd: in a hurry I just switched over from the github source to the precompiled jar from the website w/o adapting the PKGBUILD. I still hope he just releases the version on github soon, will correct source then and everything builds fine.

jghodd commented on 2018-01-28 18:58 (UTC)

The PKGBUILD file is designed to build raccoon4 from source, not to build an installation from a precompiled jar file. I noticed that there is no 4.2.1 release tag listed in the github project. is 4.2.1 just a repackaging of the master branch? if not, where can we find the 4.2.1 source code?

jghodd commented on 2018-01-28 01:56 (UTC)

Just an FYI - makepkg is extracting the contents of the jar file despite the 'noextract' tag in PKGBUILD.

Same conclusion as jghodd : does not work amymore, with same symptom than those described by jghodd

PKGBUILD is broken. It's looking for raccoon/src/raccoon4-4.2.1 which doesn't exist. There isn't even a raccoon directory at all under src. Tried removing raccoon4-$pkgver and just changing directory to src, but then the patch fails.

Version 4.2.0 now has the --gpa-update flag to perform automatic updates via the command line!

If you've been waiting for this feature and will be using it a lot don't forget to buy a premium key.

I can confirm that it now works after installing/updating jdk8-openjdk and java-environment it now builds and installs fine. Thanks for the quick response @fordperfect.

@zoe: makes sense, i will check once i'm home. java-environment was needed when it still was pre-built, but jdk is obviously needed to compile it. thank you for pointing this out. Edit: turns out: java-runtime vs java-environment. since the package already requires the latter, it should work properly. for more info see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Java_package_guidelines

@DeathHacker : I had same fail than you. It is resolved after installing jdk8-openjdk. @fordprefect : I think that java-environment as dependency is not enough. It must be "Java Development Kit", as jdk8-openjdk, for instance (jre8-openjdk is not enough). /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk/lib/tools.jar is part of jdk8-openjdk and the fail complains about this missing file : tools.jar

@deathhacker: i can not reproduce your error, builds fine for me. are you on a fully updated system? the output indicates your are missing tools.jar from the jdk8-openjdk package. try to reinstall it and verify tools.jar is there. Edit: also build in a new folder, to prevent hiccups.
