Please remove the executable bit from /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/60_smfp_samsung.rules

@liOnux I don't think I will report this to HP, both beacause I don't think that they still update "old" printer drivers (I saw that the last build is from 2017), and because I don't use the printer very much, so it's not a big problem. Thanks for the reply!

@Yoppez These Samsung printer drivers are out of date. But you have to report this bug to HP because Samsung has stopped drivers development.

My Samsung CLP-325 works with cups 2.2.11-2, but it can't make double-sided printings.

2.2.11-2 works on a CLX-3175.

@christoph.gysin My Samsung CLP-310 works with cups and libcups 2.2.11-2 from the Extra Repo.

My Samsung CLP-320 works fine with cups-2.2.11-2 from testing repo :-)

@ingo66 @aneiser @Amphitryon We have cups-2.2.11-2 in [testing], can you please test if your printers work again with this?
christoph.gysin commented on 2019-04-16 11:50 (UTC)
@Amphitryon Yes, there is still a need to patch this in the Arch package for cups. The upstream workaround won't help anyone until cups-2.2.12 is released, and Arch releases a package for it. Until then, we need to backport that fix to cups-2.2.11, or all users with these printers must manually downgrade to cups-2.2.10.
Amphitryon commented on 2019-04-16 11:31 (UTC)
@christoph.gysin But there is no need to patch this in Arch if the upstream developer, i.e. Michael Sweet, has agreed to include a work-around, at least for the time being. We just need to test the work-around. See https://github.com/apple/cups/issues/5562#issuecomment-483377904 where Michael has re-opened the bug, made a commit and re-closed it.
Much more concerning is that either PPDs or the interface to retrieve info from them are to be dropped. I have looked around the CUPS site and can't see a roadmap for where CUPS is going.
Whilst I would be pleased if Samsung update their driver I am not holding my breath. In the end I feat we may need to include an old (and therefore working) version of CUPS in the samsung-unified-driver-printer package or another AUR package that depends on and then declare it as conflicting with the official Arch package so you install one or the other.
