@RoyalPanda: I think I could reproduce the problem atfer you reported it but now it seems to work again, although aria2c still spends a couple of seconds seeding after the "Seeding is over." notice.

Hi @Viech,

I updated unvanquished-data today and aria2c didn't ended. Despite the --seed-time=0 it tried to seed the torrent.

I had to kill aria2c manually.

@Viech

Maybe this was just a temporary network problem on the tracker's end?

Maybe, I don't know.

(You can use LANG=C command to get English errors temporarily.)

Ok, thanks for the tip, I didn't know it, but I will use it the next time :-)

> Why does this use bittorrent instead of extracting the assets from the zip? Because with torrent, whenever you update the game you will only download the game data that has changed since the last version. You're also not speed-limited by the content provider as many people were when we hosted the data on sourceforge. The errors mean that some of our web seeds don't have the latest files. Web seeds are regular web servers that speed up the initial distribution of data in the torrent network and allow people behind restrictive firewalls to also download Unvanquished "via torrent". They're uncritical warnings, I'll notify kangz though.

Why does this use bittorrent instead of extracting the assets from the zip? I'm getting a lot of errors similar to this: Exception: [AbstractCommand.cc:350] errorCode=3 URI=http://webseed.unv.kangz.net/unv-launcher/unvanquished_0.43.0/pkg/map-station15_1.0.pk3 -> [HttpSkipResponseCommand.cc:215] errorCode=3 Resource not found

Hello, Viech! To be precise, I am not complaining about the two-day delay (you need) but I am definitely complaining about the incompatiblities which demand an update immediately with the servers when you don't want the game crashing randomly and repeatedly. Just changing the git tag (as well as manually downloading) didn't work for the reason I gave below.

Viech commented on 2015-09-08 13:15 (UTC)

I'm sorry for the two-day delay. (Usually it's a one-day delay due to time zone differences.) If you want the new version immediately, you can always download a binary package from unvanquished.net. I asked `Ishq to also update the torrent distribution immediately when he packages the new release, which would allow your local update of the unvanquished-data package to succeed. For the unvanquished package you would need to change the git tag from something like "archlinux/0.43.0-1" to "v0.43.0", which should work most of the time.

WHY is the game unplayable/crashing on EVERY version change/upgrade?! AUR is not updated yet. Game servers are. You try to play and it just does funny things or simply crashes because the servers are ahead one version of the client. I've tried to fix the AUR package and fail as usual as the download ressources are not in place yet. So after wasting time again, you have to wait until the repositores and download-servers are updated anytime when?... how annoying. :-(
