The problem is that even after doing the upgrade, it keeps insisting on re-offering the upgrade, because of this mistake in upgrade numbers. Do you believe is there a solution for that ?

gudwin. I know, this is my mistake to set 0.7.0 version for a package, where panel does not have to reach 0.7.0 yet.

Correct version is 0.5.0 anyway.

gudwin commented on 2023-08-02 14:32 (UTC)

There seems to be a version problem with this package. When I first download the PKGBUILD, it defines the version as 0.7.0:

pkgver = 0.7.0
pkgrel = 2

After I do a makepkg -i it first starts indicating the correct version:

==> Making package: vala-panel-git 0.7.0-2 (qua 02 ago 2023 08:32:04)

But after the package is downloaded and built, it changes the PKGBUILD now with:

pkgver=0.5.0.r18.gd197b89
pkgrel=1

and indeed, what happens at the end is that the final generated package stays with a different version number:

==> Updated version: vala-panel-git 0.5.0.r18.gd197b89-1

with a version 0.5.0 instead of 0.7.0, and when I try to install it, I receive:

warning: vala-panel-git-0.5.0.r18.gd197b89-1 is up to date -- reinstalling

and so the package is not really updated to its intended version.

This needs vala-panel in depends (building in clean chroot)

As i couldn't find anything about gtk theme relate to the systray or status icon, i download the source of the package and found vala-panel.css inside the src folder, that file has the setting to add space between icons :)

@rilian Any hint how to do that?

rilian commented on 2020-12-08 08:15 (UTC)

Only via GTK theme.
