There is no version dependency on this package on purpose! You could read comments back from 2011 to understand why.

Yes Christian, it was already discussed in the past. In short, vbox use its own install/removal mechanism for extensions.

Any good reason why this package just owns a binary blob and copies some files outside package management while installing? I have a new PKGBUILD that handles that the right way: http://pastebin.com/0K2pJh3Z

Look in previous comments.

virtualbox-ext-oracle.install directs pacman to run the following on install: VBoxManage extpack install "/usr/share/virtualbox/extensions/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-${1%%-*}.vbox-extpack" >/dev/null In doing so, modifications outside of the package itself are done to the filesystem. Is there a way to have VBoxManage redirect the output of that command to the $pkgdir/right/path thus keeping these files owned by the package?

@Marcel_K: then perhaps someone should check.

When reinstall, it remove old extpack before install again. So I don't see why you have an issue.

In the install file, please modify the post_upgrade() adding the '--replace' flag to VBoxManage extpack install, otherwise it might failt to install the extension in VBox. Message: "VBoxManage: error: Extension pack 'Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack' is already installed. In case of a reinstallation, please uninstall it first" Steps to reproduce: - installed this package - reinstalled (as it didn't show up before in VBox) - removed '> /dev/null' to get error message.

You may not redistribute this binary, as you can read in several earlier comments.

Why is this core package not in the community repository? This is essential for proper USB working!

Oh, OK. Sorry.
